Recruiting a Managing Director

Hoggett Bowers was approached to help our client, a well-known global consumer brand, in the recruitment of a Managing Director for its DACH region, based in Germany.
An earlier local Search had failed. We had previously worked successfully with the Group in its European head office so they asked us for input into how we would handle this critical assignment.
The organisation’s relatively unique route to market made the ideal candidate profile more difficult to identify and in turn the opportunity required careful yet compelling articulation to potential candidates.
Working closely with the client and using comprehensive and fresh desk research, as well as referrals from our extensive European network, we were able to compile a longlist of individuals previously not considered. This longlist included individuals from differing backgrounds who nevertheless had relevant skills.
To ensure the final shortlist represented the diversity the client sought we adjusted our approach according to the background of each candidate. As a result we were able to provide a diverse shortlist, all of whom matched the brief.
Client stakeholders were based in 3 different European locations as well as the USA. Given the previous failed assignment, time was even more critical than normal so strong project management was required to ensure the process moved at pace, despite part of the interviewing process occurring over the Christmas period.
The client has since complimented Hoggett Bowers on the real choice in the shortlist and the way the process was managed.
