Supply Chain Director for International Healthcare Group

Leading international healthcare provider Celesio UK, whose £5bn UK operations include Lloyds Pharmacy, were purchased by McKesson Corporation, a FORTUNE 500 business, in 2014. Having suffered from underinvestment and being hit by changes to NHS funding, the business needed a major transformation, including introduction of IPOS and SAP systems together with needing to establish an online presence.
Hoggett Bowers were asked to find a Supply Chain Director who would help support the transformation, affecting over 3000 people across 17 Distribution Centres and making over 100,000 deliveries a week to 14,000 dispensing points.
The client was particularly interested in candidates from best in class retail backgrounds who would be able to drive change in this traditional business. Following an extensive international search we were successful in attracting a candidate from Amazon.
In addition, during the intervening period between being commissioned on the search and the candidate starting with Celesio we delivered for them an executive interim candidate. This meant that they could prepare for the business transformation in advance of the permanent candidate joining the business.
We have continued to collaborate with Celesio on further senior assignments such as a Digital Transformation Advisor.
