The Hoggett Bowers 2 Minute Interview: Jack Swaysland

Jack Swaysland COO Papa Johns
Jack Swaysland, Chief Operating Officer, Papa John’s International Inc.

What challenge did you tackle and overcome in your business this week?

I am very proud of how we support our franchise markets around the world during Covid-19. Our franchisees have had to close markets and/or operate under strict curfews. This impacts their livelihoods directly and it is important we play our part in supporting them through this so they flourish when re-opening can begin.

Which ongoing business challenge is occupying your thoughts this week/month?

Life after Covid – it will be different, and we should expect a new normal

Best thing about working from home/remotely?

Time with the family and sleeping in my own bed every night!

Worst thing about working from home/remotely?

I haven’t been at home for this long in years as I travel frequently. I have itchy feet & I am on video meeting overload – I’m really missing seeing people in real life! And we are having our kitchen remodelled – now 7 weeks into a 4-week project!

Best factual news source on Covid-19?

SkyNews and I like Propel every am in my inbox for industry insights.

Who or what has inspired you this week? (They don’t need to be famous)

Our Middle Eastern businesses operating under curfew and trading restrictions during Ramadan and so far, succeeding.

Best programme/film you watched on TV/streaming this week?

As I fly I am a real binger and have introduced Jenni(wife) to its delights! Have LOVED Devs on iPlayer & Gangs of London on Sky – both very different but great in their own way

Are you doing more or less exercise than a typical week when you commute and if more, what?

Our dog is getting more exercise than ever, I play a small part in that.

What are you consuming more of (that you should not be) now you are not in an office environment?

Packets of sweets called Fizz Bombs – I think I am addicted.

Any words of wisdom?

It’s never the things you expect or plan for………
